Boom Boom Boom

We had a rather untraditional celebration of Independence Day.  The Mister spent most of the day at work, but was able to come home in time for supper.  We attempted the BBQ restaurant down the street, but opted not to wait 1.5 hours for a table, and settled instead for the Tex-Mex restaurant around the corner.  Fried avocado tacos on the Fourth of July?  Things could definitely be worse!

Then, we put the children down for an evening nap and monitored the crowd on the National Mall by watching the broadcast of the national concert.  When it looked like the Mall was thoroughly blanketed by the sweaty masses, we grabbed the chill'uns and ran.  They all cried a good bit.  We all sweated a lot.  But the show was great!

There was a little more breeze than last year, so the smoke cleared more quickly, making for some good photo ops.  After a little online research, I settled on using an aperture of 16, a 3 second shutter speed, ISO 200, and a tripod.  I set it up like that before the show and just left it.  It would have been fun to experiment with changing up the settings a bit to see what I could catch, but I had babies to wrangle, and fireworks to enjoy!
