Twilight Tour

Last weekend, we took a twilight tour of the monuments on one of these bad boys, sitting up top, of course.
First up: the Capitol.
Followed by a brief stop at the Lincoln Memorial.

One of these days, I'm going to need a shoulder replacement, and it will all be thanks to this stunt the Little Guy likes to pull, where he suddenly goes limp and falls to the ground while holding my hand.  Or the Mister's hand.  Or the hand of whomever may be foolish enough to walk around holding his hand.  The light was waning faster than I could spin my camera dials, but I'm glad I caught the stunt on camera, because I'm hoping one day very soon we'll be looking back on this with a "remember when...?"  ;)
Can't remember the name of this building.  It's along the lines of the Peace Institute, or something equally suspicious-sounding.  I liked how the light shone through.
The monument perhaps most frequently pictured on my blog, the ol' Washington.
By the time we made our way to the White House, it had gotten really dark.  You'll find Lafayette in the foreground, the White House in the middle and the Washington Monument in the background.  And look!  It was dark enough to see stars!  I can't tell you the last time I saw a star!
More stars, shining brightly above our Star-Spangled Banner.
Then, the tour took us past the Mister's office and our apartment, which was kind of funny.  And back to the Capitol.
We unloaded at Union Station and made our way home with two very sleepy babies.

I definitely recommend this twilight tour!  Lots of fun to see the monuments at night!

That's so funny, Julie--now we know where he gets it!

Thanks, Eleanor...they were mostly taken in AP, at f/1.8 ISO 500-800. In editing, I boosted the contrast and vivacity for some of them.

I swear when I saw the title of the post I thought you had gone on a tour of the Twilight set or something - as in the movie with vampires. And I was so so very confused why you would do that. Haha. A DC twilight tour sounds much better :)
