When in Rome?

My doorman told me this evening that I'm losing my accent! I had just recently begun to suspect that I might be, since people don't turn to stare and ask, "Where are you from?" upon hearing me speak as often anymore, and since I have had fewer difficulties lately with cab drivers and automated phone systems understanding my directions. But I don't want to lose my accent--it's part of who I am! :(
