We had a great visit last weekend from Jacob's brother's family! They arrived Saturday evening, and we ordered in Thai food and played Guesstures (a game that's a lot like charades). The boys all played some XBox360, too, while the girls chatted. When nighttime rolled around, Josh and Melissa had our guest room, of course, so the den was converted to a kids' dorm. Don't they look snug as three bugs in a rug?
It's so much fun to wake up to the giggles of little ones. Can't wait until their cousin Andrew is here to enjoy their visits, too!
On Sunday we went to church in our nighborhood and then headed out to the National Zoo. That is a big place! We spent about 4 hours there, and still probably only saw a third of it. Of course, my hobbling along might have slowed the group a bit.
Pretty bird!
We were sure to get to the invertebrate house in time for the feeding of the "giant octupus", but when we arrived, we saw that although the octupus is of the "giant octupus" species, it's somewhat of a runt. I've caught a much larger one deep sea fishing! In the same house, though, they have a black light jellyfish tank. The jellyfish look so elegant, all lit up and swimming in the dark water. Like natural ballerinas. I've always thought that if I had a no-limits house, it would feature a huge blacklight jellyfish tank!
We did, however, see a giant komodo dragon! Doesn't it look just like a dinosaur?
Thanks for coming, y'all!
