Two (Among Other Things)

Buddy Boy turned two this week.  My darling, enthusiastic, energetic, wild man jokester.

We celebrated over a breakfast of cinnamon rolls.

I took him out for a morning of one-on-one time.  Whew!  I had kind of forgotten what it's like to be out with a two year old who isn't just falling into line with what his older brother is doing.  It was harder managing him on his own than it is to manage all three together...he was up, he was down, he was running away, he was pulling all the paint chips out of the display rack, he was yanking on my shirt, he was falling down stairs, he was escaping to his sister's car seat.  But we had a good time.  He needs some undivided attention once in a while.  It can be hard in that middle child spot!
Two!  Simply amazing!
And then there were three. In the bathtub, that is.  The boys were so excited to have Baby Girl join them.

They dote on her endlessly, admiring her clothing after every change, searching for her hands and feet as soon as her swaddle is undone, kissing her forehead, helping to burp her.  I'm really proud of how they love her.

Their Daddy has set quite the chivalrous example.  I'm just glad to know they're soaking it up.  At least when they aren't light sabering her in the stomach.

My dear friend came in town for a weekend.  She won the boys' hearts forever when she brought a painting project with real paint.  And Baby Girl had already been won over with a tutu!
We had the most wonderful time spending all weekend with our other dear friend, who recently moved up here {yay!}, and wished the other member of our college foursome could have made it.

These are the girls I spent senior year living with in the sorority house...a room for three with a two-foot closet for each, one window, one desk, two dressers, a loveseat, and an armchair.  No beds...those were on the sleeping porch. All your days, all your nights, all your meals, all your in-betweens.  It's a great way to get to really know a person.  And getting to reconnect for a weekend was AWESOME and rejuvenating.
We were stuck inside for a rainy day sometime last week.
So we made a pillow pit in front of the coffee table.
The boys dove and dove.

And Buddy Boy wore one yellow glove, for no apparent reason.

It was all fun and games until...
But he bounced back quickly.  He's tough like that.

Little Guy makes all kinds of profound observations from his car seat.  The other day he told me, "The air is always here, but we don't know it until one of those round-and-rounds is blowing it.  Then we know there is air and we can touch it."  He makes me laugh.

Can't wait to see them all, especially the birthday boy!! R is right--J's eyes do look green in a picture or two. But then later they look as blue as Anna's! Pretty either way.
