That Was a New One

As a southern transplant up here in Yankeeville (and I mean that in the most loving way possible), I've gotten used to comments like "Where are you from?" or "You sound country."  I've even grown accustomed to the cab drivers who think a southern accent is a British or Australian one (strange, isn't it?).  Since having Andrew, I've learned to regard as ordinary the multitudinous comments about his peculiar, southern-style clothing.  Things like "Look, they made those airplanes on his shirt out of thread!" or "Oh, you must be from Georgia.  I have a friend from Georgia and she dresses her kids like that, too."

So when I took Andrew, all decked out in his be-Christmased attire--button-on shorts, smocked shirt, knee socks and all--to see Santa...

I was prepared.

But when a kind lady inquired if I was from Germany, and then went on to insist that I must be German since I had my child dressed in lederhosen, that...well, that was a new one.

I have to say...I know exactly what you are EXPERIENCING!!!! We lived in DC when my Sarah-Margaret was a little older than your sweet boy. They never understood: 1)A DOUBLE name!!!!2) Smocked dresses, and tights 3) this one was the best...wearing a bow in her hair, EVERYDAY. I was constantly told, that girls are just not that fussy here, and maybe a bow in the hair is a little over the top. I turned my cheek, that baby girl was southern and sweet!!! Keep it up, southern gent, Andrew!

haha, I'll have to side with the yankees on this one. ;) But Andrew is adorable no matter what he's wearing.

I think Andrew's smocked clothes are adorable (if a little girly). They look like clothes my mom dressed me in as a baby. Where on earth do you get them, though? I didn't know you could buy clothes like that these days!

Also -- LOVE the Santa pictures. We need to take Amelia to visit Mr. Claus this weekend.

andrew's clothes are adorable. it's just different in the south. smocked clothes are age appropriate, in my mind. i can't stand it when people put their kids in clothes that adults wear!
