I have wanted to see Cirque du Soleil since high school. Well, yesterday, Jacob and I went to see Cirque du Soleil's Kooza, which is in town all month. If this show comes to a city near you, GO! It was so amazing and such fun. The show is done in an old fashioned, big top circus tent and has a good number of comically stereotypical circus characters, but the real attraction is the performance pieces, which are woven together by the circus-themed slapstick.
My favorite act was the contortionists! (Cameras weren't allowed in the show, so I had to snag these pictures from the 'net.)
Jacob, for whom unnatural body part-bending is a real stomach turner, really suffered through this act, but I LOVED it.
Coming in at a close second favorite was the Wheel of Death. These guys did all kinds of tricks inside the wheels of the contraption shown below, and then one guy climbed onto the outside of the wheel! By the end of the performance, he was doing mutiple flips in the air, with his feet completely leaving the outside of the wheel at its highest point, and then catching on again after some free fall. And he didn't wear a wire! Wow!
It was a really great show! Can't recommend it enough! I think DC was only the second stop on the tour, so be sure to see it if it comes your way!
