Exploration
A few pictures from Andrew's self-led exploration of the courtyard. Such a big boy!
A little standing.
An abrupt sit.
Meditation.

Andrew at 9 Months
I'm more than a week late on Andrew's 9 month update, but we've been busy. And my guess is nobody was holding their breath to find out where the little guy falls on the growth chart. But just in case somebody was...
...he's holding steady at the 10th percentile for weight and the 75th for height. That's 18 pounds, 2 ounces and 29 inches.

You can breathe now.
At 9 months, he usually takes 2-3 bottles a day and eats about 6 jars of stage 2 baby food and one bowl of rice cereal. He really likes his squash and sweet potatoes, which my dear friend, Bev, tells me accounts for the slight yellowish tinge to his nose!

He's crawling like crazy and cruising all over the place. I think by next month's update, we'll have a walker.
That's my prediction and I'm stickin' to it--just remember you heard it here first!
Oh, and he's still regularly celebrating crazy hair day.
And I'm afraid that's it for the 9 month pictures, folks. Sorry. The photoshoot came to an abrupt end when Andrew said,
No pictures, please.
And demanded his union-bargained play break.

Bonks and Boo-Boos
I think we've officially entered the stage of the constant bonk and boo-boo. The little guy is ever exploring, and with that exploration come many tumbles and slips.
Most don't leave a mark, but some do. In just the past week, we've had two brusises to the forehead and one cut above the lip. Those'll make a mama's heart flip over!
But entering this stage also means we're starting to re-experience the world through Andrew's eyes, one of the oft-touted perks of parenthood. It's so amazing the things he notices...like a fleck of lint underneath the bookcase or the crunchy noise a cracker wrapper makes...and the delight he takes in them. This blessing just keeps getting better.

Rub a Dub Dub, Two Babies in a Tub
The cuzzies had a blast bathing in Gr'mama's big tub together!
Lily Rose was peacefully playful, gently splashing her hands in the water.
Whereas, Andrew was a wild man, crawling up and down the tub, attempting barrel rolls.
That's pretty much how it goes around here.
Once they were all clean, Lilybit schooled Drewsky in the art of the rock-a-stack.
And they did what they do best.
Which is really nice to watch.

Dana + Dan
Dana and I have been friends since 7th grade, when we were assigned lockers near one another because we both had "S" names. This weekend, Dana left that "S" name behind and moved straight to the top of the alphabet with her new husband, Dan! And I got to enjoy a front row seat for all the joy!
Friday night, we gathered for merriment atop Red Mountain in Birmingham.
With the matron of honor, Dana's twin sister, Lauren! {Naturally, she had a locker near mine, too, so we've been friends since grade 7, as well!} What a great view of our fair city.
Saturday, we feasted at a beautiful luncheon and then headed to the church.
Sisters, sisters!

Domestic Iron Bowl
Deep in the heart of Dixie, there are two camps.
There are those who will be found in crimson and white most fall Saturdays. {This is what we call the good camp.}
Then there are those who will be found in orange and blue. {This is what we would have called the bad camp, iffen' they hadn't sent such a cute representative.}
And, although these tribal colors point to the most sacred of southern allegiances, it turns out that, against all odds and contrary to all prior human experience, it is possible for a Wearer of the Crimson and a Wearer of the Orange to come together and play nice.
At least until November, that is.
